Announcements
ACT Testing -- April 19th
All students in their third year of high school are required to participate in the school's administration of the ACT, which will take place Tuesday, April 19th. Information about the bell schedule and testing locations can be found throughout the school and below. Students participating in testing must bring with them a photo ID, approved calculator and non-mechanical pencils the day of testing.

Aiken Technical College- COMPASS Testing

Aiken Technical College will be administering the COMPASS test at South Aiken High School Wednesday, March 23rd at 9:00 a.m. The test is free and scores will be linked to your application for advisement. This is only for students planning on applying at ATC.

To participate you must:
  1. Sign up in guidance to reserve your seat.
  2. Apply to ATC online: http://www.atc.edu/.
  3. Bring with you a picture ID and social security card the day of testing.
  4. Report to testing on time in the library.

ACT
The ACT will be given at South Aiken Tuesday, April 19th. All students in their third year of high school are required to take the test. If you have questions, please contact Martha Messick, Testing Coordinator. More information will be provided soon!
ACT WorkKeys Testing -- February 24th-March 18th
ACT Work Keys will be administered to all students in their third year of high school. All students are expected to take this assessment. The testing window will run February 24th – March 11th. Students must have a photo ID the day of testing, a driver’s license or student badge will suffice. It is imperative that students report to their testing site on the scheduled day and on time.

11th Grade Practice ACT
All 11th grade students will be participating in the administration of the Practice ACT January 7, 2016. The Practice ACT is made up of five, timed sections that include English, Math, Reading, Science and Writing. Students are expected to report to their testing location by 8:10 a.m. Students should not to bring anything with them on the testing day except for pencils (not mechanical), a calculator, and a book/magazine to read. Students may also bring a snack and a closed drink to have during the timed break only. The purpose of this testing is to gain information about student performance in various areas and to utilize such information to guide instructional planning, along with exposing and preparing students to testing conditions they will face in the future with such high stakes assessments. All students are required to test, any students who miss testing will be pulled for make-up testing—it is VERY important that students attend school on the testing day. We encourage all students to do their best!

Any student wishing to sign out after testing must bring in a signed note from a parent with contact information. Notes should be turned into the attendance office or test proctor prior to the start of testing.
PSAT Testing Update
Attention parents and students - The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday October 14th at South Aiken High School to our 10th grade students and any 9th, 11th, or 12th grade student who registered by the designated deadline. We will begin testing at 8:15 on the morning of October 14th - please make sure students have a healthy breakfast, get a good night's sleep, and arrive at the testing site on time. Students who arrive late may not be allowed to take the test. Students should bring their SAHS identification badges and number 2 pencils (no mechanical pencils) on test day. Students should not bring cell phones or other electronic devices to their testing location. Calculators are not required for the test, but students are encouraged to bring a scientific or graphing calculator if available. Calculators will not be provided by South Aiken High School. The following assessments will be given during the 2015-2016 school year. Dates and additional assessments will be updated as soon as the information is received.

SRI- All 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will take the Scholastic Reading Inventory three times each school year
Fall Administration- September 14 - 25th
Winter Administration- January 20th - February 19th
Spring Administration- May 2nd -13th
  • Students will test through English classes
  • Students receiving special education services will test without accommodations, as the purpose if the test is to determine each student's independent reading comprehension levels (Lexile).
  • Test will not count as a grade, however the information derived from the results will be used by teachers to guide instruction and measure student growth.
